Hi sister! Welcome back to another episode of a Taylored Adventure to Happiness. If you are new, welcome! If you are a regular, you know I love you!
When was the last time you took a deep breath? Sometimes in this crazy world that we live in, we need to hit reset and ground ourselves. So before we kick off today’s episode, I want you to do that.
Inhale, exhale. Repeat. And then remind yourself that you are doing the best you can with what you’ve got. Sister, I know some days it might feel like you’re drowning. There is so much going on around us and so much darkness that we are uncovering — sometimes it feels too overwhelming to handle.
But that is when you can remind yourself that you are exactly where you need to be and doing the best you can. Take some time to honor that. And then use the things that seem overwhelming as an opportunity for growth!
In today’s episode, we will be diving into an opportunity for growth that is happening every present moment. As lightworkers and leaders, it is our responsibility to bring corruption to light and share what we know. But how do we handle it when those around us don’t agree with our message?
It’s often confusing, exhausting, and frustrating when people are silent about the corruption going on around us or directly oppose your message. It’s even more difficult when those people are family and friends!
Today, we’re going deep as I share how I was able to navigate my own reactions to this problem and how I found ways to heal myself through it. Let’s jump in, shall we?
The Key Divide
Sister, I have seen that now more than ever, there is an increasing divide between two types of people. There are those whose third eyes are opening up — those people who are finally seeing the illusion and corruption that has been built around us. And then there are the people who are staying in their comfort zone and choosing to stay asleep to the realities around them.
It comes as no surprise that the people who refuse to wake up are the ones that oppose your message or do not address the issues in the first place. After the Wayfair human trafficking scandal came to light, I immediately decided to use my platform to shed light on the whole thing. I expected my peers in the self-development industry who deem themselves spiritual leaders to do the same! But all I heard was silence.
Let me tell ya — that silence was deafening to me. I initially found myself getting so frustrated and judging them. I thought to myself, “What the fuck? How are you not upset about this? How are you not using your platform to raise awareness about this? This is a big deal!”
After all, I have been aware of the human trafficking problem for a long time now. I have spent time in Peru at a safe house for little girls who were victims of human trafficking, and I have also learned from my mother who did a lot of work in Uganda with human trafficking.
When the entire thing became extremely public news, I was hoping that the emotional connection brought through the familiarity of Wayfair would help everyone talk about it. But nope — you could hear crickets chirping.
So I’ll be honest with you. I went through a massive judgment spiral. I kept thinking, “Why aren’t you saying anything? Why aren’t you speaking out and using your leadership for this?” I became frustrated and angry.
And sister, guess where it got me? That’s right — absolutely nowhere. Judgment is a very unproductive place to be. If you are finding yourself in that position right now where you are judging others for not speaking up about a very fucked up thing, let me share what I learned from this with you. This is an opportunity for self-reflection and growth.
I know, you’re probably thinking, “Taylor, what? How is this about me? I’m the one talking about it and shining light on a problem. They’re the ones who aren’t listening!” But sister, any time we judge someone, it’s a mirror opportunity for us. It’s an opportunity for us to see our wounded parts and heal them. And that is a beautiful thing.
Mirror Moments: How to Turn Judgement into Growth
Can you think of what that mirror might be reflecting? For me, it was a reflection of who I was years ago when I didn’t use my voice. Before my spiritual awakening, I learned about human trafficking, but I didn’t speak up. I didn’t say anything because I was scared of judgment. I was afraid of people thinking I was weird for talking about human trafficking. I was scared because society has made it uncomfortable to talk about this stuff.
When my peers didn’t speak out against the Wayfair scandal, it brought that back. All those old wounds of not feeling heard or not being able to use my voice out of fear of judgment came rushing back to my mind.
And so it wasn’t the other people that I was feeling that resentment and judgment towards. It was my old self! Here I was judging other people because of my old wounds of fear of judgment. How ironic is that?
The moment I realized what was going on, I forgave myself. I breathed into it and forgave myself for the years that I stayed quiet when I could have been speaking up. And then I sent the people who I was previously judging love.
That’s right — I sent them so much love and compassion because I remembered that everyone is on their unique path and at their own place in that path. They might not be ready to speak up yet. They might need a little more healing to be able to speak out on such a heavy topic.
I had made assumptions and expectations of how they were going to operate, and that wasn’t fair for either of us!
Now, do I believe that as leaders in the spiritual self-development arena, it is our job to speak up on difficult topics and shed light on them? Yes, of course! But I can believe that without setting expectations for others. I can hope that the people in my space speak out, but I can do this with detachment. This way, if they don’t, it doesn’t become personal. I don’t become hurt by it or lose respect for them when others choose not to use their platform.
So sister, if you are at that place right now where it bothers you that certain people you look up to are not speaking out, use it as a mirror opportunity! Use it as a way to look inward and think, “Okay, why does this bother me? What about myself can I heal through this?”
Remember — in the end, it’s never about them. Instead, it’s always an opportunity for us to grow. Look in the mirror and see what you can find! Have compassion on others for where they are in their journey, and then take the opportunity to realize what is important to you and who you want to follow.
Polarization is everything. You can use moments like this to solidify the values that you need the people in your life to align with. No one is better than anyone else, and it’s okay if others are not on your frequency. You can hope that they will one day get there. But until then, you can choose to unfollow them or step out of their lives so that you are fiercely aligned with your boundaries, values, and sacred energy.
Is that a little sad sometimes? Sure. It’s hard to let people go. But I only want people in my life that get it. Period. And if you’re anything like me — which I know you are — you want the same.
How to Wake Up Others Even When They Are Not Ready
Okay, so we have stepped down from that place of judgment and decided to have compassion for the people we were frustrated with. We can understand that they are on their own path and might not be ready to hear the truth yet. But what’s next?
I know you still want to wake up those close to you, whether it is your friend or partner or parent. The question now is — how can you do that from a place of compassion when they are not willing and ready to hear it?
Y’all, this is where you share resources. If you know me, you know that I share a lot of heavy shit on my Instagram stories. I don’t dance around. I cut to the point. I breathe light and love into what I share, but I know it’s part of my soul contract to be fierce and blunt with uncomfortable stuff.
Because no matter what side of a topic someone is on, I believe that it is everyone’s individual responsibility to educate themselves. So if you have people that follow you who are asleep, share resources! When people message you and give you a hard time about it, have compassion. When they disappoint you or have a different response than you expected, have compassion. But continue to share resources! It is their responsibility to educate themselves, whether they accept what you are sharing or not.
And sister, the more you share, the more the truth will sink in. It doesn’t matter how long it takes for others to align with what you are sharing — it could take a month, or it could take three years. It will happen eventually. But whatever the timeline is, it is still your responsibility to share what you know.
You are an awake, spiritually expanded soul who is passionate about discovering the truth of the world! It is not under your control if people do not want to get out of their comfort zone and choose to stay blind to the realities around us. If they aren’t ready, that’s okay. But is it your responsibility to continue to share those realities and bring them to light? Hell yes! As an awake individual, it is your responsibility to share the truth, resources, and education to those who are asleep!
So continue to share the heavy shit, knowing that you are doing it from a place of love. I know that you love the people around you. You just want them to wake the fuck up with you! We have to wake up the people who are in the dark from a place of compassion. We can’t do it from a place of resentment, annoyance, or heaviness. It must be from a place of love.
What Is Your Role?
Sister, each of us has a role moving into this golden age and this new earth. All of these roles are very different but are equally potent and powerful. And so my question for you today is this — what is your role?
My role is to be fierce. I am a Leo and a manifesting generator. And that’s perfect because my purpose during this lifetime is to be loud and get people to wake up in that way. I have the look, the voice, and the intensity to do so. But my role might look completely different than yours. And that’s great! Don’t blend your role with what you think it should look like because it is going to be very unique to you.
Your role might be writing a book about human trafficking. Or maybe it is starting a podcast about human rights or protesting. Maybe it is sharing information to wake up your partner, parent, or friend. No matter what it looks like, we all have the role of educating ourselves and others as a collective consciousness. Own your role, and know that it is not less than anyone else’s.
And then stand strong in it! It is time to stand firm in what you believe in. It is time to share resources and wake others up from a place of compassion. When someone doesn’t agree with your beliefs, that is okay! You can drop expectations and judgment because that doesn’t serve anyone. Instead, use their opposition as a mirror moment for your own growth. You can heal yourself and continue to speak up for what you believe and share resources.
When you can do this, abundance flows to you. Sister, I hope this helped you. I hope you now have the tools and new awareness to be able to look at what was once a heavy thing. Being surrounded by people who aren’t awake and are opposed to your message can be exhausting and frustrating. Or, it can be an opportunity for massive growth and abundance. It’s all about how you look at it.
