The Power of Doing Scary Things : Episode 267

Hi sister! Welcome back to another episode of a Taylored Adventure to Happiness. If you are new, welcome! If you are a regular, I love ya, I love ya, I love ya!

How are you feeling today? Before reading the rest of this post, take a moment to tune into your emotions and thoughts. Are you feeling fulfilled, happy, and grateful? Or are you feeling stressed, anxious, and confused? Whatever you’re feeling right now, take a moment to acknowledge that emotion.

As I write this post, I’m currently in the jungles of Costa Rica, and I can see monkeys and toucans in the trees. Wherever you are in the world, I’m sending jungle frequencies your way!

I just wrapped up one of my Ultimate Girl’s Week retreats, and it was so much fun — I had the joy to be with such an epic group of women.

If you haven’t heard of my Ultimate Girl’s Week retreats before, just think, “luxury meets spirituality.” We do a lot of workshops around chakras, breathwork, and healing emotional wounds that are really intense, but we also have TONS of fun hiking, getting messages, swimming the ocean, and even skinny dipping! Each time I host one of these retreats, the group becomes more evolved and ready to do the ascension work. This week was no different — I’m totally obsessed with all of them!

Today’s message is inspired by that group of brave and powerful goddesses — we’re going to talk about the power of doing scary things.

When was the last time you did something way out of your comfort zone? When was the last time you ripped off the comfort band-aid, knowing that your fear was trying to protect you but it was time to level up?

Wherever you are in your journey, I see you, and I love you. Today, I’ll discuss some of the breakthroughs we made during Ultimate Girl’s Week, how you can heal generational trauma, navigate through your fears, and embrace the scary things. There are so many juicy nuggets in this episode, so let’s get started!

Breakthroughs During Ultimate Girl’s Week

These women travelled from the U.S. and Canada to come all the way down to Costa Rica — they leaned into their calling, even when it may have been scary to travel during COVID. And of course, for those who are wondering, we had all the necessary health precautions in place, and all the women went home with negative COVID tests. I’m all about that healthy life!

Those women could have stayed home and let the fear of the unknown keep them from being around other women and participating in healing work together. After all, that fear is just trying to protect them, right? But instead of staying in their comfort zone, they took a risk and experienced true sisterhood.

About five women came into the week with neck pain, and there was one woman in particular who had a few inflamed lymph nodes. All of their pain went away by the end of the week because of the chakra work we did and because they leaned into their fear. Emotional pain often manifests itself as physical pain, so when you can get the root of the wound — whether sexual, emotional, mental, or spiritual — you can see physical healing as well. However, you can’t see growth unless you step into the unknown and out of your comfort zone.

That’s what all these magical women did, and guess what — you can too! Whether you want to go on an Ultimate Girl’s Week retreat or spend some time self-reflecting, we can all take steps to embrace the scary things.

Healing Generational Trauma

I’ve been saying this the past year, and I stand by it — we are experiencing a Great Awakening. The world is crashing down around us so that we can build a new one out of the ashes. This is the perfect time to start healing generational trauma.

What’s generational trauma? It’s exactly how it sounds — trauma from your older family that’s passed down generation after generation. It could go as far back as your great, great, great grandparents, but it can stop with you, whether or not you want to have kids.

Generational trauma can manifest itself in anger issues, resentment, sexual shame, counting calories, destructive habits, and so many other things. Most people aren’t even aware that they have generational trauma — it’s so normal because it’s the way everything has been in the family. It’s fucking destructive, and I’ve experienced it firsthand.

For example, I used to really struggle with food, overeating and having a negative body image. This was passed down to me from my mom, who had probably received the same trauma from her parents. But after acknowledging that trauma and seeking healing, I’ve learned to have a better relationship with food.

If you’re reading this post, you’re someone who’s committed to ascend, so I know that you want to do the hard work to heal generational trauma. In what area of your life have you not get out of your comfort zone to heal? Maybe you don’t struggle with food, but you’re stuck in a pattern of people-pleasing and neglecting your needs. Saying “no” may be uncomfortable at first, but it’s the first step to breaking you out of that generational trauma and creating a better future for yourself!

Do you know what’s scarier than stepping out of your comfort zone? Living life blindly with wounds wide open — completely blocked from abundance. When we avoid discomfort, we miss out on living as our higher selves. If I didn’t embrace scary things, I wouldn’t be sitting here in Costa Rica, listening to the monkeys chattering in the distance and watching the sunset. It’s fucking amazing!

Imagine where you could be if you gave yourself permission to stop avoiding your fears and embrace the unknown!

How to Stop Avoiding Your Fears Through Shadow Work

To get started on your healing journey, ask yourself this question:

What have I been avoiding?

That’s a scary question, right? After all, we usually avoid things that cause us discomfort (or have the potential to).

Maybe at the beginning of the year, you decided you wanted to start journaling or meditating daily. Then, life got busy and chaotic, and now, the thought of quiet time to yourself makes you uncomfortable.

During the retreat, a lot of sisters shared that they hadn’t been journaling because they had no idea what to journal about, but that’s just because they hadn’t previously done the shadow work to discover what to journal about. When you take time to check in with yourself (similar to what we did at the beginning of this post), you start operating on a higher frequency. You’ll receive massive downloads, experience transformations, and ascend into your goddess self.

Are you scared to release limiting beliefs? For a long time, I was afraid that if I started to tap into my spiritual side and truly love myself, people might not love me. Rather than levelling up, I stayed on their level so that they wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. If you find yourself in a similar spot, know that you aren’t doing them a favour. You’re actually doing them a disservice by not showing them what it’s like to stand in your power.

So, next time you have a limiting belief, negative thought, or fear creep into your mind, ask yourself if it’s keeping you from becoming your higher self. When we’re choosing to stay comfortable at a fear of the next level, then we’re self-sabotaging. Sister, it’s time to get uncomfortable. It’s time to do the shadow work. The people around you need to see what it looks like to fearlessly shine!

This process starts with shadow work — going back into your history and healing those messy experiences so you can start thinking about your purpose, mission, career, relationships — fill in the blank! Yes, shadow work is not comfy, but it leads to a much higher level of joy and contentment.

Don’t Be Afraid to Invest $$$ in Yourself

Wondering how you can start embracing your fears today? Let’s say you’re an entrepreneur — are you investing in coaches to help you? Coaches, whose rates are higher than you’ve ever invested in before? Are you staying at the same frequency of advice or trying to do it by yourself? Are you joining masterminds to collaborate with other sisters and brothers who are there to support you and scale?

Remember — when you stay in your comfort zone, you’re doing a disservice to yourself and your fellow human beings. When’s the last time you invested in yourself so that you could make an impact?

We’ve got to invest money (lots of it) in ourselves so that we heal generational wounds, navigate through our fears, and step out on the other side as a stronger, brighter person. The tickets to my Ultimate Girl’s Week are expensive — and I chatted with a lot of women who said they were initially scared to invest that amount of money, but the moment they did, they felt a shift. The same thing happens when women join Ascend — it’s like they feel themselves transforming into their higher selves.

When you invest more than you’ve ever invested in yourself before, you have no other option than to show up and do the fucking work. Trust me when I say it’s always worth it.

Embrace the Scary Things and Transform into Your Higher Self

Sister, you are ready to step into the next level of your higher self and create your dream life. You’re ready to start having those tough conversations, set boundaries, heal childhood wounds, and let your voice ring loud and true.

I fully support you — and once you shift into your new #AbundantAF frequency, you’ll start attracting more and more people who will support you and love you for who you are. You are not alone — there are people just like you who are looking for community. You just have to take that first step, trust yourself, and embrace the unknown.

I hope this message gave you the reminder and confidence-boost you needed to start doing scary things! If it supported you, please make sure to screenshot this and share it on Instagram so that other women can get the support they need as well. Tag me, @iamtaylorsimpson, and let me know how you’re beginning to embrace your fears and level up to your higher self.

Until next time, I’m sending all the high-vibe, divine feminine energy from the jungles of Costa Rica your way!

I love you. I see you. And, as always, don’t forget to choose happiness, because, well, why the fuck not?!
